Adding a Plan in 2D Takeoff – IntoAEC Application

Think of adding a plan as rolling out the blueprint on your project table — this is where everything begins. The 2D Takeoff module is your digital drawing board, and every plan you add sets the stage for accurate measurements and smooth execution.

No more lost PDFs, wrong versions, or endless back-and-forth with your team. Here, you can upload, measure, and organize plans in one central space — fast, precise, and frustration-free.


How to Get There:


1. Click “Add Plan” – The Add Plan popup will appear.

  • Name It & Upload – Give your plan a name, upload your file, and hit Start Takeoff.

  • Set the Scale – Ensure precision by defining the correct scale.

  • Measure & Draw – Mark out everything your project needs — from walls to windows.

  • Preview & Estimate – Review your work and generate accurate project quantities.

Step-by-Step — Do It Once, Do It Right


  • Click “Add Plan.” An Add Plan popup appears.
  • Enter Plan Name.
  • Upload your 2D plan file(s) from your system.
  • Need to replace it? Click Delete to remove the document, then re-upload the correct plan.
  • Click “Start Takeoff.”
  • Set the Scale - Define the scale for accurate measurements. Adjust manually or use a reference from the drawing.


  • Measure & Draw Shapes. 
  1. Lines → length measurement.
  2. Squares → simple area calculations.
  3. Polygons → complex/irregular areas.


  • Modify & Adjust
  1. Select & Move elements to reposition
  2. Delete shapes if they’re incorrect or no longer needed


  • Manage Sections
  1. Add Multiple Sections to categorize areas

  2. Rename Sections for clarity

  3. Delete Sections if unnecessary


  • Zoom In / Zoom Out
  1. Zoom in for detail work

  2. Zoom out to see more of the plan


  • Preview & Estimate
  1. Click Preview & Estimate to review all measurements

  2. Generate a detailed estimation based on your work


  • Estimate Summary Page
  1. Edit the plan and view the summary for estimate creation

  2. To proceed with estimate creation, follow the Estimate process


  • After Completing the Estimate
  1. The created plan will appear in the 2D Plans section



What You’ll See in 2D Plans

  • Edit / Delete / Preview actions for each plan

  • Uploaded By — who added the plan

  • Number of uploaded PDFs — quick reference for versions



Treat this flow as your single source of truth: set your scale once, label sections clearly, and review via Preview & Estimate before exporting. Your estimates (and your sanity) will thank you.
